Power Mesh Is a Support Material
Power mesh is an open knitted fabric engineered with more resistance and recovery than decorative mesh. It can reinforce sports-bra wings, line front panels, stabilize waist areas or add breathable support inside pockets.
Do not select it only by hole size. Fiber blend, yarn, density, elastane and finishing determine how firmly the material resists extension.
Measure Modulus and Recovery
For support, the force required to reach a defined extension matters as much as maximum stretch. Compare samples at the extension expected in the garment and note both directions.
Repeat the extension and check residual growth. A mesh that feels firm when new may relax after wear or washing and stop providing the intended stabilization.
Design the Layering System
Power mesh is often hidden between face fabric and lining. The combined layers create the actual support, heat and stretch behavior, so the full assembly should be tested rather than each fabric in isolation.
Define whether layers are floating, fully captured or joined at selected seams. Excess seam bulk can reduce comfort at bra wings, waistbands and crotch-adjacent panels.
Protect Skin and Garment Edges
Open structures can feel rough at cut edges or seam allowances. Review edge binding, fold direction, seam cover and placement against sensitive areas during movement testing.
Check snagging against nails, rings, hook-and-eye components and hook-and-loop closures. Packaging and laundry handling can damage exposed mesh before the customer wears it.
Approve Color and Wash Performance
Mesh and main fabric may dye differently even when both appear black. Approve shade and colorfastness together, especially where layers overlap and create a deeper visual tone.
Wash the assembled garment and recheck support, edge condition, shrinkage and seam flatness. Keep the approved mesh code and supplier because apparently similar alternatives can produce different garment fit.
