Define Compression for the Activity
Compression should describe a measured fit relationship, not simply a smaller pattern. Lifting, running, court training and recovery products need different support, inseam lengths and mobility. State the primary use and wear duration before selecting fabric.
Record the model's waist, hip and thigh measurements together with the tested size. This prevents fit comments such as too tight from being separated from the size chart.
Control Crotch and Gusset Construction
A shaped gusset can reduce seam concentration and improve stride. Define its shape, width and stretch direction. Front-panel shaping should support without creating a bulky stack of seams.
Use flat or low-profile seams at high-friction areas and check the inside surface by hand. Thread type, seam extension and stitch density all influence comfort.
Prevent Leg Ride and Waist Digging
Leg openings need enough recovery to stay in place without leaving excessive pressure marks. Review finished opening circumference, elastic or grip application and fabric recovery after repeated squats and sprints.
The waistband should stay stable during bending but not restrict breathing. Specify elastic extension and test it with the production fabric and intended size range.
Add Pockets Without Bounce
Phone pockets require usable depth, opening tension and placement that avoids hip flexion. Test with a defined phone size during running, lunges and floor exercises. A visually large pocket may still bounce if the panel lacks recovery.
If shorts will be used as a liner, confirm that pockets and seams do not show or snag under an outer short.
Approve Wear and Wash Results
Run a timed wear test and record chafing, seam pressure, waistband movement, leg ride, sweat handling and recovery. Repeat after laundering to confirm the fabric has not relaxed or twisted.
