Custom Biker Shorts Manufacturing Guide for Activewear Brands

Plan custom biker shorts by defining inseam, rise, waistband, gusset, fabric, pockets, branding and fit tests for your private label range.

Primary topic: custom biker shorts manufacturerBy CCLIYA

Define the Intended Use

Biker shorts can be designed for yoga, gym training, running or casual wear, and each use changes the product brief. State the activity level, target customer, climate and retail position before selecting fabric or construction. A studio short may prioritize softness, while a training short may need stronger recovery and pocket stability.

Decide whether the shorts will be sold alone or as part of a coordinated set. Matching a sports bra or top affects color approval, branding placement and the timing of sample reviews.

Specify Length Rise and Waistband

Record the inseam, front rise, back rise and finished outseam for the base size. Terms such as short, mid-thigh and long are interpreted differently, so measured specifications are safer than visual descriptions alone.

Define waistband height, compression and internal construction. Confirm whether the waistband uses self fabric, elastic reinforcement, a drawcord or a shaped back seam, then test whether it rolls or slips during movement.

Choose Fabric and Coverage

Review composition, GSM, stretch direction, recovery, surface finish and moisture behavior. Light colors and highly stretched areas need opacity testing on the body because a fabric that looks solid on a table may become transparent in use.

Check pilling, colorfastness and dimensional change for the intended care method. If the collection uses several colors, approve each shade because dye and finish can affect handfeel and stretch.

Plan Gussets Pockets and Seams

A gusset can improve mobility and reduce seam concentration in the crotch. Specify its shape and seam type in the tech pack. For pockets, define the opening, usable depth and whether the pocket must hold a phone during exercise.

Review seam placement for comfort and appearance. Flatlock, overlock and coverstitch routes create different profiles, costs and stretch behavior, so the approved sample should identify the exact construction.

Approve Fit Branding and Bulk Standards

Test the sample through squats, lunges and the movements relevant to the target customer. Record waistband movement, leg opening pressure, inseam position, pocket stability and fabric recovery, then convert approved comments into measurable bulk tolerances.
