Define the Training Environment
A gym tee, running tee and all-day athleisure tee place different priorities on weight, airflow, structure and odor. State the climate, intensity, fit and expected use so the manufacturer can propose an appropriate knit or mesh.
Specify whether the garment should cling, skim or fit loosely when wet. This affects chest ease, back width, length and fabric selection.
Specify Moisture and Airflow
Record composition, GSM, knit construction, wicking expectation and drying method. Mesh zones can improve ventilation, but their placement should follow heat areas and avoid excessive transparency or weak seams.
Test the complete shirt rather than only a swatch. Neck rib, shoulder tape, prints and panel joins can hold moisture longer than the main body.
Plan Odor Management Carefully
Odor-control claims require a defined material or finish and a suitable test method. Ask how many washes the performance is expected to survive and whether the treatment meets the target market's chemical requirements.
Do not sacrifice handfeel or breathability for a finish. Compare treated and untreated references where possible and approve the actual production route.
Engineer Fit and Seam Comfort
Review shoulder mobility, sleeve opening, underarm seams and body length during overhead movements. Low-profile seams and soft neck construction reduce irritation during repeated training.
If reflective or heat-transfer branding is used, check stretch, breathability and wash adhesion. Large solid prints can change how the shirt handles heat and sweat.
Build a Repeatable Performance Standard
Keep approved fabric, color and garment samples. Record drying observations, dimensional change, pilling, colorfastness and odor-performance evidence after the planned care cycle.
