Why Light Colors Need Their Own Approval
A fabric that passes in black may become transparent in white because reflected light reveals yarn spacing and underlying layers. Light tennis apparel also shows sweat, seam shadows and pocket bags more clearly, so color approval must include the finished garment.
Define where white is mandatory and where a coordinating off-white or skin-tone lining is acceptable. Different materials can appear mismatched even when they use the same color name.
Check Opacity Under Stretch
Review the fabric at rest and at the extension expected on the body. Use contrasting underwear and bright, even lighting. Test standing, serving, lunging and bending because the seat, hip and armhole do not stretch equally.
Confirm that the wearer matches the approved size chart. Excessive transparency can be a fit or grading problem, not only a fabric problem.
Use Linings Selectively
Built-in shorts, shelf bras and pocket bags can improve coverage but may create heat or visible edges. Match stretch and recovery between layers so the lining does not pull the outer shell out of shape.
Specify lining color and panel boundaries. A pure-white inner short can still show through an optical-white or cream outer fabric if undertones differ.
Test Sweat and Care Performance
Apply controlled moisture to high-sweat zones and document appearance while wet and during drying. Check yellowing risk, color migration from trims, wash durability and optical brightener consistency where relevant.
Review the sample after laundering for shrinkage, seam puckering and retained stains. White products make small workmanship differences more visible.
Set Bulk Inspection Points
Keep approved fabric and garment references for shade, opacity and handfeel. Bulk inspection should include bright-light stretch checks, lining placement, seam cleanliness and trim color compatibility.
CCLIYA can discuss white and pastel tennis dresses, skorts and tops. Send the required shade, garment type, coverage expectation, activity and size range before sampling.
