Custom Cycling Apparel Manufacturing Guide for Private Labels

Plan custom cycling jerseys, bib shorts and coordinated kits with fit, technical fabrics, pads, pockets, zippers, artwork, sizing and ride tests.

Define the Cycling Use and Rider

Road, gravel, mountain-bike, indoor and club apparel have different fit and durability needs. Define ride duration, climate, rider position, competitive level and whether the program is for retail, a team or an event.

Choose the initial product mix carefully. A jersey and bib short can establish fit, colors and branding before adding gilets, jackets, base layers, arm warmers or accessories.

Specify Jersey Fit and Construction

Cycling jerseys can use race, performance or relaxed fits. Record chest, waist, body length, sleeve length, opening, collar and hem measurements, then evaluate them in a riding position rather than only standing upright.

Common details include full or partial zippers, rear pockets, zipped valuables pockets, silicone hem grippers, mesh zones and reflective elements. Each component needs dimensions, placement and functional testing.

Develop Bib Shorts and Pad Requirements

Bib-short development depends on torso length, strap position, leg compression, gripper, panel shaping and pad placement. The chamois or cycling pad should be selected for rider type, ride duration, density profile and available size range.

Test seam location and pad alignment on a bicycle. A sample that appears correct when standing may create pressure, movement or friction after time in the saddle.

Select Technical Fabrics

Compare stretch, recovery, weight, breathability, moisture behavior, abrasion resistance and surface finish. Jerseys may combine a stable printable body with lighter ventilation zones, while bib shorts need strong recovery and opacity.

Approve colors and prints on the final fabric. Sublimation is common for polyester cycling jerseys, but the construction, artwork scale and color expectation must match the selected material and print route.

Prepare Artwork for Panels and Zippers

Cycling artwork crosses shaped panels, seams, pockets and zipper lines. Use the supplier's current pattern template and define which graphics must align. Small differences in stretch and sewing can affect exact matches across seams.

List sponsor marks, rider names, reflective logos and legal text separately. Confirm final dimensions and permissions before sampling, then approve a complete garment rather than a flat digital mockup alone.

Approve Sizes and Ride Performance

Build a size chart for the target country and fit concept. Review at least the base size and another size when possible, because torso length, pad position, strap tension and gripper pressure may not grade uniformly.

Conduct a ride test that covers zipper operation, pocket loading, hem movement, visibility, moisture, pad comfort and seam pressure. Record the conditions and convert the approved result into measurable production standards.
