How to Develop a Private Label Sports Bra for Your Market

Define Use and Support

A sports bra should be developed for a specific activity and customer. A light-support yoga bra, a studio crop top and a training bra do not require the same pattern or construction. State the intended movement, coverage and support level before selecting a style.

Avoid using support labels without a test method. Explain what the garment must do: limit movement during running, provide comfortable studio coverage or function as a layered top. This gives the development team a clearer target.

Specify Coverage and Fit

Confirm neckline depth, side coverage, center-front shape, back design and underband width. Strap placement affects both appearance and pressure, especially in cross-back or racerback styles. Review how the armhole and neckline sit during movement, not only when the model stands still.

Sizing requires more than scaling the sample evenly. Cup volume, band extension and strap length may need different grading rules. Define the target size range early so the pattern is designed for it rather than expanded after approval.

Choose Fabric Lining and Pads

The outer fabric should provide the desired stretch, recovery and handfeel. Lining can improve coverage and stability, but it also changes heat and drying time. If the design uses removable pads, confirm the pad shape, thickness, opening position and behavior after washing.

For molded cups or higher-support structures, development may require additional components and testing. Confirm these requirements before quotation because they can change MOQ, sample cost and timing.

Test the Sample in Use

Fit the sample on the intended body range and repeat the movements relevant to the product. Check band movement, strap pressure, gaping, edge rolling, pad position and fabric recovery. Record the results with photographs and measured comments.

Wash testing is also important. Review dimensional change, color transfer, logo adhesion and whether removable pads fold or shift. Approve the care instruction only after the materials and decoration method are confirmed.

Complete the Private Label Package

Place logos where they will not crack, distort or create discomfort. Confirm the main label, care label, size marking and packaging before bulk approval. If the bra will be sold with leggings, review color and branding on the complete set.
