Pique Is a Structure, Not One Fiber

Pique fabrics use a raised cellular or geometric knit texture. Cotton, polyester and blends can all be made as pique, producing different drying, handfeel and durability.

For performance polos, specify fiber content, yarn, pattern scale, GSM, width and finish. A visual texture reference helps prevent the supplier from selecting a much larger or smaller cell.

Balance Texture and Airflow

The textured surface can create air spaces and a structured drape, but airflow depends on actual openness and weight. A dense pique may feel warmer than a lighter single jersey.

Test the complete garment during serves and repeated court movement. Collar, placket and logo zones may retain more moisture than the body fabric.

Coordinate Collar and Body

Flat-knit collars and cuffs need compatible shrinkage, shade and weight. A heavy collar can pull a light body out of shape, while a weak collar may curl after washing.

Approve the body, collar, placket reinforcement, thread and buttons as one set. Check color under daylight and indoor retail lighting.

Manage Snagging and Surface Wear

Raised texture can catch on rough equipment or hook-and-loop closures. Evaluate snagging, pilling and abrasion before accepting a very open or delicate construction.

Embroidery and heat transfers should be tested for distortion. Stabilizers must support the logo without creating a stiff or uncomfortable patch.

Approve Care and Repeatability

Wash the polo and measure body length, width, collar shape and placket alignment. Inspect twisting, surface fuzzing and shade change after the intended cycles.
